Hello to All!!
So I am happy to say that I HAVE THE JOB! The interview went well and I was even able to share with the managers what I will be doing with my life and for the Lord after college.
I start work on Monday at 10am for orientation. And a cool part about this job is that both teams and executives that will be at the super bowl will be staying at the Hotel I will be working at!! I am not into football, but that is still cool!
Please continue to pray for me as new things such as this and mucho more continue to happen!

Job Interview
Hello All!
As some of you know, I am in Miami helping this new church plant voluntarily. I receive no financial support for the church. Because of this, I have to work a secular job, which I am totally fine with.
Please be in prayer for me tomorrow at 10:30am eastern standard time. I have a job interview at the Bayside Marriott Hotel across the street to work the front desk. The hours, pay and work seems to be perfect. At my last interview, I asked if they permitted me to be gone for a week during each semester and all summer. I explained to them that I am pursuing a career as a missionary and while I am in school, I go on mission trips to learn more and serve like I will be doing later in life. I explained to them that it was sort of like an internship. They said that they are all about education and that would be perfectly fine. Even for a full-time employee. So...Praise the Lord!! It seems to be working out very well!

Holy is the Lord!
Wow...the Lord is good! As I look back at the times that Satan made attempts to stipen the ministry...I praise the Lord because He will always win and not be defeated. Being in the location that I am in, you can imagine what kind of people are here. Besides the flesh and blood, there are also spiritual battles. I believe these are more thick than the flesh and blood. It is clear that Satan does not want us here...all the more reason to believe that God is in business here!
Everything is fine and going well. Prayer is becoming more real each and every day. Being around total lostness can get you discouraged, but as I spend time with HIM...my day just gets better and better!
Never forget to spend each day with our Savior...it makes a big change in your daily rotine for the better!

Life in Miami
Hello to All!!
Sorry it has been so long since my last post! It seems that I say that every time I post, but I really do not mean to not write often. Wow...life is just so busy and I am loving every bit of it! Well...the holidays were amazing with my family and I hope and pray that they were with all of your families as well!
Since I offically moved all my stuff (December 7th) and offically moved my self down here, God has been doing some pretty amazing things! My good friend Evan has joined me down here with this amazing mission. He is 18 years old and is also called to be a missionary. Evan loves Ecuador and is really a great guy to live with. We both started school this past Wednesday at Miami Dade college (wolfson campus) and WOW can I tell you it was really interesting! There is so much culture down here...We are eating it all up!
Evan and I are leading in worship for the english church and we are playing for the spanish church. Today was our first offical Sunday leading and WOW can we say that it was truly amazing! God moved and the worship was so sweet. God's presence truly moved throughout the service as Art (the pastor) began to bring the message.
Right now...Evan and I are pretty tired from going strong these past 6 days. So I am going to go to bed now, but keep checking the blog for new posts.

Quinceanera in Miami
Hello to All!
Sorry it has been so long since I have written. As you can imagine, things have been busy with the holidays and especially with me since I have been traveling. I would like to tell you about the awesome weekend I had in Miami before the holidays. Later, I will write about Midtown Community Church.
Sorry it has been so long since I have written. As you can imagine, things have been busy with the holidays and especially with me since I have been traveling. I would like to tell you about the awesome weekend I had in Miami before the holidays. Later, I will write about Midtown Community Church.
Last semester, I was invited by the family I will be ministering with to escort their daughter for her Quinceanera (Sweet 15 party). This party is a huge deal in the Latino culture. Every minute, I was suprised by what came next! I knew this was a very formal party with Tuxcedos and Fancy dresses. That is all I knew. The family had rented an entire Banquet Hall and invited around 100 people. Before the party, Art, Evan, Kenith and I went to go help finish setting up for the party. We all walked in and Evan and I (Being the two gringos), were totally amazed at all of the decorations and the elaborate details. After we finished helping to set up and took Michelle, Lizbeth and Michelle's friend to the salon, we left to return to the house to get ready. We all got ready and then a Limo showed up! That was a huge suprise! Thirty minutes before we left, I was told that I had to Waltz with michelle and interrupt her and her father dancing to do so!! I wasn't really nervous, but WOW....it was so special.
Okay...so after practicing, we got in the Limo and rode through Miami to the banquet hall. When we got there people were everywhere! A camera guy was outside and a photographer! I really felt like I was escorting a celebrity. People were shouting....Mis Quince (Miss 15)! We had to sneek her in from the back and put her in her carrage and close the curtian. She had to be revealed as a woman (coming of age), so noone could see her till then. Lizbeth then tells me that she did not tell anyone who was escorting Michelle. Basically, noone was informed about the "gringo" coming. Haha....it was so much fun. Then I found out that we had to be introduced and then walk down the banquet hall. Rose petals were layed by two lovely flower girls and then Michelle's parents walked down and then my name was called. People were starring and was like...Who is that Gringo????? Haha....I felt like I was being Evaluated. The ceremony lasted about 5 and a half hours. It was all in spanish and I loved it because I missed hearing spanish so much. Michelle's grandfather led the service and Michelle was given a Bible, two rings, high heal shoes (sign of her growing up), a watch and maybe something else, but I forget. Each one signified something special. Her grandfather spoke for a while and then it was time for her to come out of the carrage. Art went up to escort her down and then he gave her over to me. I then walked her down the esile and back down.
Later on, we waltzed and laughed and had a really good time. I promise I did not get married!! Towards the end of the evening, Michelle was suprised by the Mariachi band that came in and sang to her. I was shocked because I had no clue what to do there. I knew I could not stand there and do nothing. So...I started dancing with Michelle. It was so much fun. "La Cucaracha" was sung in a different version. It was hillarious. When I was dancing with Michelle, her grandfather shouted in spanish (everybody look, the North American is dancing the Waltz to La Cucaracha!) I had no clue what else to do.
Evan and I were continually being amazed at the festivities. It was such a good time!

The Call to Miami
Hello to All!
Well, back in March 2006, I met an amazing family at a church planting conference held at the Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center. The Salcedo's are a Latino family. Art Salcedo is from Columbia and Lizbeth Salcedo is from Nicaragua. They have two lovely daughters, Michelle and Cristine and two twins on the way. They have a mission which was launched in January 2006 located in Midtown Miami just off of Biscayne Blvd. Visit www.midtownministries.org to read all about the church.
They have been asking me to pray about the Lord's leading in my life concerning moving to Miami since I met them. We all felt a Godly connection when we met. At the time I met them, I was heading to Peru for the summer and knew then if the Lord would lead me to move to Miami, it would be after the summer. Once I returned from an amazing trip to Peru www.josuesarco7.blogspot.com I received another invitation to come to Miami and assist in multiple ways using the talents and abilities God has given me. I continued to pray for what the Lord would have me to do. The doors were also open for me to return to Peru for a stay up to 8 months, and to go to several Security Level 3 countries. Knowing my heart is for being on the "foreign soil", I began pursuing the trips out of the country. All the while, the Lord was calling me to Miami.
I had been praying for quite some time now for the Lord's direction in my life with my major in college and for the Lord to place me in international ministry while in school. Right now my major is Missions and I have felt uneasy about it. After communicating with several mission boards about the right major for missionaries, I knew why I felt uneasy about my major. It would be much more beneficial for me to earn my degree in a "secular" field rather than a "religious" field due to the issue of getting into countries that are closed to "missionaries and God." I also have to earn a degree in Bible for my master's work, so earning a degree in Bible for my bachelor's seemed non-ethical. I continued to pray...Wow God...so much is going on...what do you want me to do?
The finances for the overseas trips were just not there and I began to feel the Lord close the doors, but not lock them. The Miami position began to burn in my heart and I began to have a burning desire to minister to the people in that area. I also began to find out more about the ministry I would be doing. I would be assisting with worship, children's ministry, dance ministry and any other need in the church that I could assist. Also, I would be able to greatly improve obtaining fluency in Spanish. Every bit of the things that are there for me to assist with created a burning desire to GO and Do for the Glory of the Lord!
After fighting with the call I knew the Lord had placed upon my life, I accepted and contacted my friends in Miami to tell them of the Lord's calling - to take a huge Leap of faith and move to Miami. I now await to see what the Lord has for me to do and learn in Miami.
Please keep me in your prayers as I venture out into the city of Miami for our Lord Jesus Christ. I know it will not be easy, but I do know that all things are possible with Jesus Christ and I have him for my strength and guidance. Also, please keep me in your prayers as I begin school down there and seek for the job the Lord would have me to have. And of course, please pray for Midtown Ministries and the people in which we have and will encounter.
